Sustainability at JPM

Here at JPM hardwood furniture we pride ourselves in aiming to be more sustainable each year. We aim to minimise the negative impacts of our business on the environment and our local community.

Ways that JPM hardwood furniture is sustainable!

-          We use only locally and sustainably sourced timber and logs. Rescuing logs from the woodchipper to be repurposed is a major way we source timber stock. We also aim to educate the general public in ways they can repurpose trees that need to be removed or offer to take their logs if they don’t have a need for them. [Blog post: Tree Removal Alternative]

-          We also source, reuse and sell recycled timber from old local homes that are demolished, working closely with local demolition companies to help reduce their waste too.

-          Our offcuts are reused for smaller projects. As a last resort firewood to heat local homes, because Australian hardwood burns significantly cleaner, longer and provides a better heat source than typical firewood sold.

-          We work with other local business to reduce and repurpose our waste. For example, supplying saw dust to local mechanic businesses, providing saw dust to local composters, providing offcuts to other businesses to use in their own projects and so on.

-          We bring in old clothing that are not appropriate for donating to use as rags.

-          We recycle old food tubs and containers to use for smaller resin pours.

We are always looking for other ideas on how to reduce waste and our environmental impact.

If you have ideas, we would love you to share them with us!
