Timber is a natural resource therefore contains natural variations including knots, cracks, colour, veins, bug holes and grain. These are unique to every tree and piece of timber, and therefore to every piece of furniture and joinery. These are not considered to be faults but rather feature. If you’re not after these natural variations then please speak to one of our team members about alternative material options before confirming your order.
Charges will apply to remanufacturing furniture, if you’re not happy with the timber, as variations are a natural phenomenon and not a manufacturers fault. For this reason we are able to provide photos of timber or organise inspections of slabs prior to beginning manufacturing.
Over time, natural factors may lead to deterioration of the timber such as expansion, shrinking, or discolouration. Small splits and cracks may develop, adding character to the piece. If you would like some “Tips & Tricks” to care for your timber over time please don’t hesitate to ask.
Deposit
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin manufacturing your custom piece with the remainder due on pick up or delivery. Receipt of your deposit confirms that the details on your order are correct and your acceptance of these Custom furniture terms & conditions.
Returns, Exchanges & Warranty
We take great pride in our finished custom products, as well as the quality of materials we use. We truly hope you are pleased with your purchase from JPM Hardwood Furniture. We design and construct furniture pieces with the timbers natural expansion & contraction in mind as well as the surroundings it will be placed into. It should be expected that timber will continue to move, warp and crack over time. However, If you encounter a major problem with one of our custom made timber products, we offer a 12 month conditional manufacturers warranty. This will include repair or replacement of the piece with a manufacturers defect.
Under Australian consumer law, if the piece has a manufacturers defect or fault you are entitled to a repair or refund, or for a major failure of the product, or a non-major failure where the goods fail to be of acceptable quality.
This will be subject to proper handling and maintenance of the product during this time. The item must not be placed under undue stress, wilful misuse and be used for its intended purpose only. It also does not cover user neglect of the product once delivered/picked up. For example, custom furniture is not made to stand on or have heavy items placed on top of it. Furniture should also not be dragged, it must be lifted or damage to the joints and legs may occur. This damage from misuse will not be covered.
Unfortunately, natural degradation from environmental factors are not covered by this warranty. Natural factors like sunlight, rain and other weathering factors may lead to timber deterioration such as discolouration, expansion or shrinkage, leading to small splits or cracks over time. These are not a fault, and only further add character.
Damage to surfaces from general wear and tear, misuse of the product, the use of incorrect chemicals or the use of abrasive products are not covered. If an accident does occur we are able to assist with repairing the item for a fee.
Our warranty does not cover items installed by other companies.
Items that are sent out raw or unsealed at the customers request have a limited warranty. Any damage such as water damage, timber movement, etc are the responsibility of the consumer.
If there is an issue with the finished product, must be registered with JPM Hardwood furniture, in writing, within 24 hours of the item being picked up or delivered. Once your complaint has been received, a member of our team will be in contact for further information and details on what happens next.
Pick-up and delivery are not included in this warranty. These are at the buyers cost.
Returns or exchanges are not accepted on custom made pieces if you change your mind.
Production Time
For smaller pieces you can expect them to take approximately two to four weeks with larger pieces taking three months to be completed. This is only a guide and vary depending on the availability of materials required and also workload of JPM at the time your order is placed. Please chat to us about timing prior to purchasing if you have a deadline or timeframe in mind. We aim to provide ongoing updates as the manufacturing process is undertaken.
Alterations
Any alterations to the order need to be made immediately in writing, however if manufacturing has commenced these are not possible. If changes are required after this time, charges will apply.
Delivery
Delivery is not included unless organised prior. This is definitely an option we can discuss and add at any point of the process.
Installation
